Population ecology of herbivorous insects. I am particularly interested in understanding how plant-eating insects are affected by various environmental changes, such as land-use change and climate warming. In my research, I use a combination of observational studies and empirical field and laboratory experiments. I strive towards developing and testing of hypothesis that can explain patterns of insect abundance and fluctuations that we observe in the field. Studies consider the effects of natural enemies, host-plants and abiotic factors.
The goal is to provide knowledge that can be used in forestry and agriculture to develop long-term and environmentally sustainable plant-protection against harmful insects.
